The settings (brightness, contrast, colour, etc) on the TV remain untouched. At the end of the calibration process, it generates and installs a colour profile on your PC which makes all the necessary adjustments. The meter is also connected to the PC, so the process is more or less completely automatic. The test patterns are generated within the PC software and hence are displayed directly on the PC monitor.
